According to St. Luke 2, there was no room in the inn to accommodate Mary, the mother of Jesus, where she could have a normal delivery like a human being. The only place that was available, was a place in a stable where animals were sheltered and fed. Is there room in your heart for Christ or is He lying in the proverbial stable of your life where it’s cold and unwelcoming?
As Christmas day approaches, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of gift-giving, decorating, and parties. But it’s important to remember the true meaning of the season: ‘the birth of Jesus Christ”. Doing this can be a challenging, but ultimately rewarding and transformative experience. It requires a willingness to let go of our own preconceptions and to open ourselves to the love and guidance of Jesus Christ. Making room in your heart for Christ means taking time to reflect on His teachings and allowing him to be the central part of your life. It’s about putting Him first above material possessions, worldly pursuits, and allurements.
One way to make room for Christ is by setting aside time each day for prayer and meditation. Another way to make room for Christ in our hearts is through service and acts of kindness. This can be as simple as taking a few minutes in the morning or before bed, to focus on Him and His presence in your life. This can help to quiet the noise and distractions of the outside world and allow us to focus on our relationship with God. It can also help us to gain a greater understanding of Christ’s teachings and how they apply to our lives.
Another way is to actively seek out opportunities to serve others as Jesus taught us to do. When we focus on helping others, we are able to put aside our own selfish desires and open up to the love and compassion of Christ. This can be as simple as volunteering at a soup kitchen or offering a helping hand to a neighbor in need.
Additionally, surrounding ourselves with a supportive community of believers can also help us to make room for Christ in our hearts. When we have the support and guidance of others who are also seeking to follow Christ, it’s easier to stay focused and committed to our spiritual journey.
Furthermore, making room for Christ means making Him a priority in your life and striving to live in accordance with His teachings. It involves a willingness to let go of our own ego and selfishness and embrace a life centered on love and compassion. It may not always be easy, but the rewards of living a life filled with the love of Christ are truly priceless
May the blessings of Almighty God overtake and surround you and all of yours this Christmas and perpetually.
