We all love a good comeback story. Some of the most beloved stories that we have had the privilege of being told are: “Turn Your Setbacks into Comebacks”
Comebacks!
The concept of the good guy getting put down but overcoming his setbacks and returning to win, is just simply intriguing and inspiring. Even the story of Jesus comes to mind when considering a comeback story. However, did you ever stop to think of why these stories are so inspiring and engaging to us?
Could it be that maybe we are intrigued by such stories because that’s what we would like to happen in our own lives? Most of us indeed consider ourselves to be the hero of our own story and it’s even more true that all of us experience setbacks. So, it would make sense why we love these stories so much. We too want to overcome the setbacks that we face and make a comeback in our own lives.
Paul had something interesting to say about this. In his letter to the Romans, he wrote, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, or sword?… No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Rom. 8:35, 37)
Despite what you go through in your life or what setbacks you may experience; Paul says that you are more than a conqueror of those things through Jesus Christ. How can this be? It’s because Jesus has already overcome all of those things and through Him, you can overcome them as well. You can turn your setbacks into comebacks.
So then, trust in the One who had the greatest comeback story of all time. After all, if He can overcome death, surely, through Him, you can overcome whatever you’re facing right now.
