I Shall Not Be Moved
Scripture: “He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” — Psalm 62:6 (NIV)
Devotional Thought
In a world that constantly shifts—news cycles, economies, relationships, even our emotions—it can feel like we’re standing on unstable ground. But David, the psalmist, declares with unshakable confidence: “I shall not be moved.” Why? Because his hope isn’t in what changes, but in the God who never does.
David’s strength came not from himself but from the steadfastness of God—his rock, salvation, and fortress. When life shakes us, it reveals where our foundation truly lies. If we’re rooted in Christ, we may bend in the wind, but we will not break. We are anchored to the unmovable.
Illustration
Imagine a lighthouse perched on a jagged cliff, battered by wind and waves year after year. Storms roll in with fury, waves crash violently against its stone base, yet it stands unmoved. Why? Because it’s anchored to solid rock, not sand.
We are like that lighthouse when we build our lives on the Rock that is Christ. The waves will come—the trials, the griefs, the pressures of life—but when we are rooted in Him, we remain standing. Strong. Steadfast. Unmoved.
Application
- Check Your Foundation
What are you standing on today? Popular opinion? Financial security? Emotional comfort? All of these shift and crumble. Only Christ is unchanging. - Stay Anchored in God’s Word
Psalm 1:3 describes the righteous as “a tree planted by streams of water,” which “yields its fruit in season.” Deep roots in God’s Word make for immovable lives. - Trust in God’s Character
Circumstances change, but God’s nature doesn’t. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). You may not understand the storm, but you can trust the One who calms it.
Prayer
Lord, in a world that constantly changes, thank You for being my unshakable Rock. Anchor my soul in Your truth. Teach me to stand firm in faith no matter what winds blow or waves crash. I declare in Your name—I shall not be moved. Amen.

- What’s shaking in your life right now, and how are you responding?
- Are there areas in your life that need to be more firmly anchored in Christ?
